Cornerstone's work in education began 1994 with a Leadership Academy for boys, set on the serene grazing pastures of Ekitangaala Ranch in central Uganda. Ten years later, in 2004, the girls campus was opened, between the boys campus and Kampala in order to expand our capacity to work with young ladies.
The Cornerstone Leadership Academy in Rwanda opened in 2008. This school is situated on top of a hill overlooking lake Muhazi, in the highlands of Eastern Rwanda, 40 mins drive from Kigali town. It is a co-ed campus, empowering both young men and young women in the same learning environment.
Set in the foothills of Mount Meru, 30 mins from Arusha town, the Cornerstone Leadership Academy Tanzania is off to a great start. Having opened in 2011 and just graduated its first class of students this year (2013), it is our youngest school. THis school maintains the same co-ed approach as CLA Rwanda.
In addition to our flagship leadership academies, there are also quite a few other schools in the region that we partner with. Some of these run the same character development, spiritual formation, and leadership empowerment curriculum as the Cornerstone Leadership Academies, and others run a lighter version that looks more like an after school leadership club.
In order to meet the increasing demand for Cornerstone's unique education, this school was opened in 2003. It is a fee paying school, in that unlike the Cornerstone Leadership Academies, anyone who meets the academic requirements and is able to pay the school fees can enroll.
Similar to the High School, this school was opened to meet the demand for Cornerstone's unique education.
